Kingston Land Trust Awarded ‘In Service Grant’ From Omega

The Kingston Land Trust is on of 29 area non-profits selected to participate in a special organizational retreat at the Omega Institute Holistic Studies in Rhinebeck, N.Y. The Omega In Service Grant allows key executives of the Kingston Land Trust to set goals and develop strategies in a relaxed yet focused setting.

“We pleased that the Omega Institute awarded this grant,” said Arthur Zaczkiewicz, executive director of the Kingston Land Trust. “It comes at a time when our organization is growing, and evolving. We welcome the opportunity to brainstorm, set long- and short- term goals and develop strategies that are in-tune with our mission of conservation and community gardening.”

The retreat is timed on Omega’s Service Week, which runs May 25 to May 29. The Kingston Land Trust will participate in a two-day session.

“Omega Institute’s visionary Service Week event helps nonprofits meet two levels of need,” said Tim Delaney, chief executive officer of the National Council of Nonprofits. “At the organizational level, these unique grants help strengthen the technical ability of nonprofits to meet operational needs, plus at the human level the grants provide valued community leaders a safe space to learn from each other, thereby reminding them that in the midst of the many challenges facing us today, we are not alone.”

During Service Week, each organization creates and leads its own program. In the past, grantee organizations have utilized the time to develop strategic plans, cultivate relationships among their board members and with other grantees on campus, re-engage with their mission statements, heal organizational rifts, deepen staff cooperation, and enjoy some much needed peace and relaxation.

Other non-profits attending the retreat include: Battered Women’s Resource Center; Common Justice; Earthjustice – Northeast Office; Girls Write Now; Literacy Volunteers of Rensselaer County; NY Youth At Risk; Planned Parenthood; Sustainable Hudson Valley; and U.S. Human Rights Network; among others.
