Produce Shares from Kingston Food & Gardens

Kingston Food & Gardens is offering buying club members and the community a chance to buy a twice-monthly share of fresh, organic and bio-dynamic (when available) produce. The deadline to sign up is March 6, and there are several shares still available. If you’re interested, send me an email at zaczkiewicz@yahoo.com and I will add you to the list. Once we have enough shareholders, the buying club will send out another email with payment details. Shareholders will be able to pick up organic and bio-dynamic fruits and vegetables such as kale, broccoli, potatoes, carrots, apples, pears, onions, romaine lettuce, and much more. Produce is from a local distributor of organic foods. There will be six pick ups, most likely on a Thursday or Friday. The cost to Kingston Food & Gardens members is $150 while non-members will be charged $175. The program is set up like a farm share, and works like this: — Shareholders pay an upfront fee for the season of $150 (for buying club members) or $175 (for non-members) — After the shareholders send their payment, a notice will go out with the scheduled times for pick up, which will be twice monthly for three months — Produce is then delivered to the buying club at 33 Broadway in the Rondout at the scheduled times — During pick up, shareholders measure and weigh items according to that week’s share allotment, which will be posted — Shares not picked up will be donated to a local food pantry or soup kitchen Please note: This program works like a CSA. Shareholders cannot order specific items. However, shareholders are free to trade and swap items between themselves. — Arthur Zaczkiewicz
